Understanding funeral costs in Poland

Begin with the intended place of burial, whether cremation is wanted and the kind of farewell. If you are undecided, ask for the difference between the options to be shown clearly.

• Funeral services: collection, care, transport, coffin or urn, cremation where chosen, and agreed ceremony arrangements.
• External charges: the cemetery and any separately charged parish, venue or other provider.
• Optional items: flowers, additional printing, music or memorial work you have selected.

If you choose cremation at our own crematorium at ul. Fosa 19a, its charge will be shown in your funeral estimate.

The ZUS funeral benefit can contribute towards eligible funeral costs. PLN 7,000 is the family rate for deaths from 1 January 2026, subject to entitlement and the rules for shared costs. Other claimants may receive less.

This is a benefit amount, not a published funeral package price. Insurance or another institution may also be relevant to your circumstances. Confirm cover before treating it as money available for the funeral.

Eligibility, documents and how to claim the ZUS benefit

Before authorising the arrangements, ask for payment dates and the treatment of any benefit to be written down. Include charges payable directly to the cemetery or another provider.
